Lauren Bloch

I am both an Educational Psychologist and Montessori Teacher. I qualified with a Masters in Educational Psychology from The University of the Witwatersrand.
At present I only conduct online (virtual) therapy via video call. If you would like the advantages of therapy, from the comfort of your own home then you have come to the right place.
I believe that a therapist's life experiences inform their approach to life and to therapy. I find that the areas of therapy that I am passionate about are the same parts of life that I have had personal experience with. I am also naturally passionate about children and parenting.
I see the individual as existing within a system and thus am
influenced by the ecosystemic approach to therapy. I focus on the individual's perception of his or her truth and walk along side the client to achieve their therapeutic goals. In the therapeutic relationship the client is the expert on his or her problems and the therapist is an aid who can help provide tools to experiment with along the way. The ultimate goal is for the client to leave therapy at the end of the final session with a feeling of accomplishment and having gained tools to help him or her with life's curveballs.
I have counseled adults, adolescents, children and families and believe in a holistic and family oriented approach to therapy. I hae also worked in schools, running programs or facilitating indiidual therapy and or assessments.
My Philosophy
I believe the psychodynamic approach to be the cornerstone of psychology but as I age so I am more influenced by Existential, Ecosystemic, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy.
