Adolescent Therapy

Teenagers today face a number of challenges. Typical problems range from ever-rising exam pressures to the lure of the internet. There is a growing number of teenagers suffering from depression, stress-related conditions, low self-esteem, drug and alcohol abuse, eating disorders and relational difficulties. Adolescents are often acknowledged as one of the more challenging groups to work with, the most common problem faced by therapists is connecting with this age group and establishing trust. I have found that being a younger therapist makes this easier and I have generally found that my teenage clients are able to quickly form a bond with me that greatly aids the therapeutic process.
